“When you don’t go within you go without.” - Yogi Bhajan

How many times in this life have you been going through a situation and instead of confronting it head on you numb it? You numb by watching tv, telling everyone about your problem, take substances, etc.... Basically, you do whatever you can to distract you from the current reality you are facing. The funny thing about the mind is, “You can run, but you can’t  hide.” Until you fully deal with whatever is going on and let it go your subconscious mind will keep knocking at your door over and over again. By doing this, you will create a pattern of numbing your pain/thoughts. You must nourish yourself with prayer and meditation to eliminate these haunting thoughts that you or your mind has created. Our minds are more powerful than most of us realize. You need to nourish yourself through a daily spiritual practice. Yogi Bhajan spoke often about this......

“Your subconscious personality persuades you to many actions by sixty percent. Your conscious activity is forty percent only. Out of this, twenty-five percent is biases, prejudices, and pre-meditation. And fifteen percent is the conscious mind. Your inner happiness lies in your mental training. In your mental training, your inner happiness lies in harnessing the percent of your subconscious mind. Your actions must be guaranteed by you because whatever the sequence, you are going to lead yourself to the consequences. You must understand it is you who are at fault. We live in patterns. Intellect must give you thought wave. Thought wave must get into emotions. With the intellect there is a thought pattern; thought pattern has an emotion pattern; emotion pattern has a desire pattern; desire pattern has an action pattern; and action pattern has an object. Between intellect and object this goes on and on continuously unchecked. In meditation, with each inhale and exhale your Bij mantra runs. And let the thought go free—at that time whatever will come in you, will forever leave you. It can't be with you. The yogi’s breath is there in and out, Sa Ta Na Ma. He will go through it, and let it go. You will be the cleanest personality and you will be the happiest being. Put any desire into this test. You cannot re-desire it at all. You may try your level best. There are two methods of life: either you know how to control your instinct of desire and the pattern of your desire, or you must fulfill your desire. Now you can't fulfill all desires, you know that. So what you will do? The only thing you can do is to learn how to check the patterns of life. For any thought you want to eliminate, there are two positive ways of doing it. Either you manifest it or you put it in your meditation—no matter how negative it is. It will never let go if it’s in your subconscious mind, because it will become a block there. It will reoccur, it will haunt you. We call them haunting thoughts. The haunting thoughts can be burned in meditation forever.” Yogi Bhajan @3hofoundation

My prayer for you today is that you will face the problems in your life head on. Numbing might feel good, but it will not get rid of the pain no matter how hard you try or how long you numb for. Find a meditation practice that works for you. Love yourself, love your thoughts and love what God is showing you through situations. Begin to nourish your soul daily. Nourish: look up, look in, look forward, look around and look back.

In this period of life, your personal development is skyrocketing. That makes it even more important to feed yourself with things that nourish you. Literally in the form of healthy food, but also in the more proverbial sense of wisdom, attention, joy, exercise, rest, etc. Laziness often makes us go for things that do not actually stimulate us, but rather make us feel depleted. Think of certain media or people that always seem to take away your energy. Take the time to under- stand why you choose to feed yourself with such matters. What whole are you trying to fill? Look at it without judgement. Free yourself from the negative compensation. This card asks you to focus on things that influence you in a positive sense. What puts you in a good mood? What gives you energy and satisfaction? What are the books and people that inspire you? Right now, you are very susceptible. Take it all in, but choose wisely. Remember, what has once fed you, can never be taken away. Therefore, it is important to go for the positive instead of the negative, choose quality over quantity.
