Breathe

“If you can rhythmically slow down your breath to four breaths a minute, you can indirectly control your mind and slow it down from its obnoxious behavior.”

- Yogi Bhajan

Today, was about slowing down and connecting to God. I woke at 3:30am to meditate and drew my Inner Compass Card. Perfectly fit for today, it said.... Slow Down.

I knew today was going to be intense as my friend and I headed out to the water temple north of Ubud. This temple is sacred to not only the Balinese, but also myself.

The water temple is meant for the purification of the mind, body and spirit. As you dip into the ice cold water, fully clothed, you wash your head under 10 fountains. At each fountain you pray, wash your head three times, sip the water three times and pray again. You bring everything to God to cleanse your soul.  At these fountains you can pray for anything. I prayed for Peace and Provision.  I didn’t pray for my own peace, but rather peace in the world.

Often times in life, we just go through the motions. Instead of mindfully living life, we repeat the same mundane routine.

Slowing down is a gift. By slowing down you can be self aware and connect to the cosmos — God. Slow down and breathe. Slow down.

Yogi Bhajan says, “In one breath when you inhale, you say Sat Nam—in me is the existence of the truth. And you exhale and you say Wahe Guru—I am in ecstasy of that greatness. You run your mind with the cycle of that breath. It doesn't take a long time to understand that you are in the stage of ecstasy and you have rebuilt your own self. And thus you can capture your mind and subconsciousness into the lotus self of purity. You will have a fragrance in you. As in the rose there is a fragrance, in your human body there shall be a beauty which shall be felt in a vibratory effect by all the people. It is the doing which gets you. You want to buy it; it is not going to work out. Buy the technical know-how, but do it yourself. It is very essential and yesterday has already passed. It is now you should start, so that tomorrow may be beautiful and fulfilled.”

Today I pray that you may slow down and feel God’s mercy and grace. The energy of God is all around you, you just have to tap into it. I pray that you find deep healing and learn to.... “Be still and know that He is God.” Mindfulness leads to a deep connection with God. Open your heart and let the spirit speak.

Sat Nam 🙏💜💫

This card invites you to consciously take a step back. Do you feel the need to accelerate a certain process? Maybe you are restless or very enthusiastic. If you always want something better, you end up blocking your natural flow. Your spiritual growth is an individual process that follows its own timing, there is no need to compare it with anything or anyone. Your ego wants things to move quicker than they do, that can force things. Nature is never in a rush and yet everything gets accomplished. Perfectly So! The growth you seek, can only find you in the here and now. Allow life to move through you, rather than trying to move life. Look at situations from a distance. When you are no longer completely identified, precious insights and answers can flow to you. Relax in that which is, without any hurry to move on. the ‘now’ is all there is. After all, like grass we do not grow any faster by pulling.
